ABSTRACT |
Comprehensive field investigations were conducted to study the marine environment of Kwang-yang Bay, one of the most contaminated and changed water bodies, and to assess the environmental impact of various pollution parameters on benthic fauna. The investigation used four ecology indices of benthic fauna and pollution parameters. The evenness index (J) was positively related to DO, COD, T-N, and T-P concentrations of seawater. As a result of statistical analysis, it was likely that there was slightly systematic relationship between the evenness index and two parameters (DO and T-P). There existed more consistent and higher negative influence of metal sediment (Cd and Zn) on the J than that of metal seawater. |
